Kiunga to Kokonda Upgrading Project

PNGSDP is also upgrading the Gre to Drimgas road and the Kiunga to Kokonda roadat at cost of approximately K30 million (See Map).   These two roads are located in the recently established rubber plantations and therefore are very important to the people of the area, who need to get the extracted rubber to the factory in Kiunga for processing. These are some of the key infrastructure developments undertaken by PNGSDP, in order to provide sustainable economic and social development for the people of the Western Province.

These two roads will eventually link into the main National Highway Network connecting to roads running through the Gulf Province where some of the world’s largest natural gas reserves are to be developed and then further linking into the road networks in the Central Province where the Capital city of Port Moresby is located.
