PNGSDP is also upgrading the Gre to Drimgas road and the Kiunga to Kokonda roadat at cost of approximately K30 million (See Map). These two roads are located in the recently established rubber plantations and therefore are very important to the people of the area, who need to get the extracted rubber to the factory in Kiunga for processing. These are some of the key infrastructure developments undertaken by PNGSDP, in order to provide sustainable economic and social development for the people of the Western Province.
In the remote and rugged terrain of the Western Province, with some of the world’s highest rainfalls, building roads for the community is an immense challenge.
An example of a major project undertaken by PNGSDP is the Kiunga to Kokonda road project. It is one of two major road projects in the Western Province undertaken by PNGSDP.
